Player Profile

Jamie Jones featured for Leyton Orient on over 150 separate occasions in a six-year stint at the club, however, O's fans may remember the shot stopper for other reasons.

Where Have They Been?

Jamie Jones signed his first professional contract in his hometown with Everton in 2007. During his first season, he only managed a few reserve team games but never managed to secure a new contract. At the end of the 2007/08 season, he signed a two year contract with Leyton Orient.

In his first season with Orient, Jones was fighting for a starting place with team-mate Glenn Morris, however, in his next season Jamie was promoted to the number 1 shirt. Jones played 151 games for Orient, with one of his most memorable matches being a League One fixture against Swindon Town in November 2013. During this match, a spectator ran onto the pitch and attempted to punch Jones, however, he was unhurt and the spectator was arrested.

Jones was also the keeper for the O’s during the League One Play-Off Final at Wembley, however, was unable to guide Orient to victory in the penalty shoot-out loss.

After leaving Orient in 2014, Jamie signed for Preston North End after turning down a contract extension at Brisbane Road. Jamie managed 17 League One appearances at Deepdale, whilst being loaned out to Coventry City and Rochdale in the same season.

Next up in his career, Jones made the move to Stevenage in 2016 where he managed 17 appearances in the first half of the season, and another 17 appearances whilst on loan at Colchester in the second half. Jamie’s next season at Stevenage brought him 57 appearances in all competitions.

Where Are They Now?

At the start of the 2017/18 season, Jamie Jones signed for League One side Wigan Athletic where he managed 18 appearances in his first season. He has recently signed a year contract extension at Wigan, however, he is considered to be second choice with Walton taking the number one spot.
