In this series at Everything Orient, we take a look back at ex-Orient players and see where their careers have taken them since their departure from Brisbane Road.
Player Profile
Gnanduillet only played 18 matches for Orient, and did not quite live up to expectations. The ex-Ivory Coast U20 player is currently playing his eighth professional season of his career, playing in League One with Blackpool after his return from South Africa.
Where Have They Been?
Armand Gnanduillet began his career at Le Havre AC in 2010, where he played 24 games for the reserves but never managed to break into the first team. In 2012 he moved to AS Poissy, playing in the fourth division of French football. He managed to score five goals in eleven games before earning a move to Chesterfield following a successful trial.
Gnanduillet scored on his debut in 2013 and went on to get another two goals for the rest of the season. In total he played for Chesterfield for four years between 2012-2016, making 82 appearances but only scoring ten.
During his time at Chesterfield he went on loan to Tranmere, Oxford and Stevenage, where he scored only seven in 22 games. On 22 January 2016, Gnanduillet joined Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee. In his first season at the O’s he managed four goals in League Two, then in the next season moved to Blackpool.
Playing from 2016-2018, Armand got promoted with the Seasiders and scored eight goals in 44 games. In a strange turn of events, Gnanduillet moved to South African side Baroka, signing a two-year contract.
Where Are They Now?
The two-year contract only lasted two months, as Gnanduillet returned back to Blackpool, due to the fact that Baroka had already five internationals, and Armand couldn’t manage to get citizenship as a South African in time. The Baroka owner says; ‘He will come back in the future because he has unfinished business here’ which gives a clue to where his career will take him next.
