What To Expect From Louis Dennis

Louis Dennis has recently made the switch from the south coast to east London as he joins Ross Embleton's side from Portsmouth. However, what should O's fans expect from the attacker?

26-year-old attacker Louis Dennis has arrived at the Breyer Group Stadium but this isn't the first time that the former Portsmouth forward has appeared in these neck of the woods.

Dennis previously came through the ranks at Dagenham and Redbridge, accompanied with a few loan spells at the likes of Canvey Island and Grays Athletic, before being snapped up by Bromley in 2014.

The forward enjoyed a four-year stay in south London before Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett provided Dennis with his chance in the Football League. Jackett described Dennis as 'an exciting player with a lot of talent' prior to his arrival at Pompey.

However, Dennis failed to make his mark on the south coast, making just eight appearances for Portsmouth before joining Leyton Orient this summer.

Regarding what to expect from the player, Dennis is clearly highly thought of within the Leyton Orient camp - as Ross Embleton stated upon his arrival:

“It’s taken us a massive chunk of the summer to finally get him here. Louis has been a player that we’ve admired at the club since we came up against him in our first season in the National League, he got a fantastic move to Portsmouth, but as soon as we got the opportunity to bring him to this club it’s one we began to pursue.

"When you look across all levels of football, the players that make you sit up and get up out of your seat, those ones that have that extra bit of ability and the talent to go past people and make something happen. Louis has certainly got that, we’ve watched him on a number of occasions, studied all of his footage and he is a player of real ability.

"We’re going to allow him to go out there and express himself like we do with all the players. But he’s got the natural ability that will hopefully excite people,” Embleton told leytonorient.com.

During Orient's first season in the National League, Dennis enjoyed a stellar season at Bromley as he found the back of the net on 22 occasions that campaign. Although he converted for Pompey on just one occasion, limited opportunities in League One failed to demonstrate the true potential of Dennis.

Therefore, with the likes of Dennis, Lee Angol and Conor Wilkinson now having entered the attacking frame, it appears to be a very exciting period of what will hopefully be a fruitful season for Leyton Orient in League Two.
