What To Expect From Lee Angol

Lee Angol has recently joined the O's from Shrewsbury for an undisclosed fee, however, what should we expect from the former Tottenham apprentice?

Following the departure of both Macauley Bonne and Josh Koroma to Charlton and Huddersfield respectively, some much-needed attacking fire power was required for the Orient front line.

Therefore, Leyton Orient have identified Angol to help bolster the attacking ranks.

Speaking to the official Leyton Orient website, Angol said: "I feel quite inspired to be joining the Club. Everyone knows what Leyton Orient did last year, you can see what trajectory they are on, everyone knows how big of a club Leyton Orient are and they are on a mission to get back where they were, so I'm excited

However, how has the, now, 24-year-old faired at his previous clubs?

Including Orient, Angol will be appearing for his tenth club in the space of seven years as a professional footballer. Although, the striker has ventured out of on-loan on six occasions, with his greatest success coming at Boreham Wood during the 2014/15 season.

During his time with The Wood, Angol netted 25 goals on 39 occasions - which appears to be his greatest return as a professional footballer. Furthermore, Angol contributed to Peterborough's 2015/16 campaign in League One, finding the target on 11 occasions.

Prior to his move to Orient, Angol represented Shrewsbury in League One but struggled to find form before being casted out on-loan to Lincoln City in League Two. Nevertheless, Peterborough Chairman, Darragh MacAnthony has previously said this in regards to Orient's new signing:

"He's had more clubs than Tiger Woods but one thing is for sure. He has talent and enough to rip League Two apart, in my opinion. He needs to find a club to settle at to help fulfil his potential."

Prior to joining the O's, Macauley Bonne had just eight professional goals to his name, netting seven at Colchester and on just the single occasion whilst on-loan at Lincoln. During his time with Orient, he went onto score 45 goals in two seasons.

To suggest that Angol would replicate the form to that of Bonne's would be simply inappropriate. However, given time and possibly the right guidance, Orient could have player on their hands who could successfully contribute to the O's first season back in the Football League - if Angol is able to settle in E10.
