A Fan's Perspective: Exeter City vs Leyton Orient

A Game to Remember: Lee Angol

Some might say he’s been one of Orient’s standout players this season, some might argue he hasn’t lived up to expectations - but yesterday was a truly good performance from the attacker.

Angol bagged Orient’s equalizer as well as linking up well with Dennis who provided Orient with the lead during the second half. Personally, I feel that I saw him play in a more comfortable manner yesterday and is growing into his place at Orient very well, hopefully we’ll start to see a flow of goals coming in from him.

Worthy Mention: Dale Gorman

Held up very well in midfield. Gorman has adjusted to life very well in League Two in my opinion, better than the rest of the squad. He can play good passes quick, short, long and got back when needed which helped us out yesterday. Also provided a bit of passion and fight to his game in the last few matches, demonstrating to Orient fans what he’s made of and that he wears his heart (his badge even) on his sleeve.

Opinion

A much improved performance this time out for the O’s, after some very disappointing displays, I thought coming to St. James Park to play one of the league’s in-form sides wouldn’t end very well but to take a point and performed the way we did is very acceptable.

Obviously I am gutted about the final few minutes and I feel it overshadowed the effort the players put in to grind out that result, however, I do feel we sat back most of the second half and invited the pressure from Exeter which provided them with the upper hand.

Saying this 7 minutes of added time, no serious injuries or long stoppages,  you do wonder whether it was to play on to see if Exeter could get a point, in my opinion.

I think Brill responded to his critics well with a catalogue of saves, in my opinion. Nevertheless, I do think Sam is the way forward but his efforts yesterday needs to be appreciated.

Regarding the defence, I don't think Coulson hasn’t adapted well to the new division at all. After a rocky start Marvin is getting back to his best. As long as we keep putting in effort week in week out, Embleton keeps true to his honesty in his post match interviews which I love (never knock a man who’s open to say when he’s wrong) bit of growing time amongst the squad we’ll be ok, hoping for three points on Tuesday.
