Preview: Leyton Orient v Chesterfield

This article focuses upon Leyton Orient’s next opponents, Chesterfield, as we take a look at their form, previous meetings and much more ahead of this weekend’s fixture.

In a fixture that has previously graced the glamour of the football league , Martin Allen’s side travel to the capital for the first fixture in a very busy festive period for all National League sides.

In the most recent meeting between the Non-league giants, a late James Dayton wonder-goal separated the teams and gave Orient all three points on the road.

Close encounters between The Spireites and the O’s have been a common trend over the years, in the 25 meetings between them, each of side have won eight times, and honours have been even on nine occasions.

Despite a difficult start to life in the National League, Chesterfield have forced some impressive results in recent weeks, brushing Basford United aside in a 5-1 FA Trophy victory, as well as defeating Salford City 2-0 and denying them a place at the top of the table.

Although they have been unbeaten in the league since their match against Maidenhead in September, Chesterfield still sit in 20th in the table.

As for the hosts, the first away league defeat of the season at Boreham Wood

brought an end to an eight game unbeaten run, however a comfortable 4-0 victory at the hands of Beaconsfield in the FA Trophy last weekend was a great opportunity to regain confidence for the league leaders.

Team News

For the O’s James Dayton and Charlie Grainger remain unavailable due to long term injury however Myles Judd and Charlie Lee may be back back to match fitness.

While defender, Bradley Barry is ruled out and midfielder, Jordan Hallam is a doubt, ex O’s Robbie Weir and Jerome Binnom-Williams are likely to feature at their old stomping ground.
