Preview: Chesterfield v Orient

This article focuses upon Leyton Orient’s next opponents, Chesterfield, as we take a look at their form, previous meetings and much more ahead of this weekend’s fixture.

The Spireites welcome the O’s to the Proact Stadium in the first match day of September.

Chesterfield started the season well with nine points from their first three games, however, a run of four consecutive defeats have dampened their aspirations of promotion back to the Football League at the first time of asking.

Orient currently sit in fifth place, 10 places above this weekend’s opposition, and looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Despite current form suggesting a difference in class between the teams, the overall head-to-head record between the clubs couldn’t be closer. In 25 meetings there has been nine draws and eight victories for each team.

The most recent encounter between the two sides was in League One during the 2014/15 season. The O’s won 3-2 away from home thanks to a brace from David Mooney and a 101st minute winner from Dean Cox.

Team News

After their defeat at Hartlepool, the Chesterfield manager, Martin Allen has claimed he’s planning on making a number of changes for this weekend’s match. These changes could see ex-Orient skipper, Robbie Weir drop to the bench.

.

Much like defender George Elokobi, winger James Brophy is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, a short term replacement has already been put in place, Crystal Palace winger Levi Lumeka has signed on a season long loan. The 19-year-old is eligible for selection against Chesterfield after firing his way to becoming the top scorer in the Palace u23 team last season.
