Jordan Maguire-Drew: What To Expect From Orient's Latest Signing

The O’s exciting new 21-year-old winger arrives with bags of National League experience and great technical ability.

He has played in League Two with Coventry and Lincoln City, on loan from Brighton, but it was at Dagenham that he had his best season so far in 2016/17. He scored an impressive 16 goals in 48 games for Daggers on their way to the play-offs, and was named their young player of the season.

On loan at Wrexham this season, he scored 3 goals in August but, according to George Sessions, was side-lined by pain from wisdom teeth and allowed to leave by Wrexham’s new manager.

"I got a call from my agent saying Orient wanted to sign me and I said, 'get it done' straight away”.

In his own words, he sounds like exactly the type of player Orient need on the wing:

"I like to get supporters off their seats, I like trying to make things happen, score goals, create goals, get the team up the pitch as much as I can when I get the ball."

Maguire-Drew is a tricky dribbler, with plenty of tricks up his sleeve, and quick feet. He is good at taking the ball past players and making things happen in the final third.

He is a very strong crosser of the ball, expect him to put good crosses into the box for Bonne. He also looks good from set pieces - though it is hard to see Jobi McAnuff getting replaced on corners and free kicks just yet.

Maguire-Drew also likes shooting and can hit them accurately all around the box – he is not afraid of shooting from range or cutting in from the edge of the area and pulling the trigger. Josh Koroma might have a rival in the goal of the season stakes before long!

He is a little bit of a cross between Koroma and Dayton. It is early doors, but his all round game looks very impressive. If Orient can keep Bonne, Koroma and Maguire-Drew together as a front three they are going to be a potent attacking side for years to come.

Maguire-Drew looks like a perfect addition to Orient’s squad, he has arrived at the perfect moment to put rocket boosters under this season’s mission to get back to the Football League.

Watch Maguire-Drew on form for Dagenham and Redbridge in 2016/17 – he wore the number 15 shirt for Daggers that season.
