Player Profile

Sorba Thomas is a talented and lively young player from the Boreham Wood academy.

He is a quick and quite strong, able to hold off defenders and beat them for pace.

Career Path

Thomas has only recently started his career, but broke into the Boreham Wood first team last season. He came on as a late substitute in the play off final against Tranmere which Wood lost 2-1.

Whilst he has often been used as an impact sub, he has also started a lot of games for Boreham Wood. This season he has played a part in all but four of Wood’s games, making 10 starts and coming on as a substitute in a further 14.

My Reasoning

With Orient settled in their first-choice attacking options and looking for cover, Thomas would be an exciting future prospect who could grow alongside Koroma, Ling, Judd and Ekpiteta.

I saw him come on for Boreham Wood against Gateshead at the start of the season and he injected pace into their attack. He showed his commitment by clashing heavily with the Gateshead keeper in a 50-50 for which he was booked.

He offers something different to Josh Koroma and Macauley Bonne, preferring to play out wide.

With James Dayton out for several months, bringing in an established National league player to provide cover for McAnuff and Brophy could be vital to sustaining Orient’s current run of form.

With Premier League clubs monitoring Bonne and Koroma, it is not just injuries and fatigue that new signings might be needed to cover for. In the event of any of O’s current attackers leaving for Football League Clubs, Sorba Thomas could break into the Orient first team, with the possibility that he could develop into a future
