Former Orient defender Mathieu Baudry believes Carl Fletcher is a 'great appointment'

Mathieu Baudry, 31, formerly featured for Leyton Orient for a period of four years before eventually making the switch to Doncaster Rovers in 2016. However, AFC Bournemouth provided Baudry with his first chance in English football, when the centre-back was acquired from French-side Troyes in 2011.

With his previous experience with the south-coast side, and considering Fletcher managed the youth teams there, Baudry appears to be an excellent source of judgement on the O's new manager.

The former Leyton Orient captain said on Twitter that he was 'really, really impressed' with the up-and-coming coach and believes that Fletcher could be successful in east London.

Aside from Baudry's praises, current Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe also revealed, via the Cherries' website, that he's confident in Fletcher's abilities to excel as Leyton Orient manager.

"Carl is extremely hard-working, has really good opinions on the game and has had some brilliant experiences in the game, both as a player and as a manager.

"He understands the game inside and out, and is a born winner, which is something that he’s never lost throughout his playing career and all the way into his coaching. Carl is someone who, quite simply, loves to win.

"He is in a really good place to attack this job and the one thing you know with Carl is that he will always give his best to make the job work.

"It is a great move for both sides – for Carl and for Leyton Orient. They are a really good club who do things the right way, and Stephen Purches speaks so highly of them from his experiences there.

"I think it could be a really good match."

Due to the appointment recently being announced, Ross Embleton will take charge of the O's against Grimsby while Fletcher will be watching from the stands.
