This article focuses on Leyton Orient's next opponents, Guiseley, and how they've faired this season.
Good Friday’s fixture at Guiseley will be a great opportunity for Orient to extend the distance themselves from the bottom four. However it’s equally as important for a Guiseley outfit who will looking to kickstart a miraculous change in form to have any chance of pulling off a great escape for the second year running.
The two sides have already met this season at Brisbane Road, however the game was in very different circumstances for the hosts. During the 4-1 victory to Orient, the O’s momentarily topped the table as other results went the way of the east Londoners. Now positioned nine places above the Yorkshire side, Orient will see no reason why a similar result in their favour can’t be repeated.
Since the turn of the year both teams have experienced underwhelming form, both sides recording only one home victory since New Year’s Day. Although The Lions sit 14 points from safety they’ll be aiming to make it seven points from three successive games at Nethermoor Park.
On the other hand, having not won in their last three on the road The O’s will be looking to draw inspiration from last weekends 3-0 home victory at the hands of Woking. With a brace last time out Macauley Bonne would like to add to his talley of 18 league goals this season (three of which he bagged against Guiseley in the reverse fixture) however goals have been hard to come by recently away from home for the East Londoners.
Nonetheless, Good Fridays fixture in Yorkshire is set to be a cracking contest with both team desperate to pick up points before the end of the season run in. With the mouthwatering prospect of two games this Easter weekend hopefully the travelling fans will be eager to sing the boys on and to be rewarded with three points at the end of the afternoon.
