What You Need To Know: Gateshead

This article focuses on Leyton Orient’s next opponents, Gateshead, and how they’ve faired this season.

Gateshead play host as Orient take to the field for the last time of this season, as 14th play 13th this weekend at the Gateshead International Stadium.

The O’s have had little fortune in their previous three games against ‘The Heed’ this season. An infamous second half turn around left Orient’s FA trophy hopes in tatters; whilst ambitions of Wembley were extinguished in the replay.

Orient were in fine form until their last home game of the season. However, as a result of three dropped points at Brisbane Road on Tuesday night, Orient failed to secure a top half finish in their first season in the National League.

Similarly, a recent decline in form has resulted in a confirmed bottom half finish for the hosts. Picking up zero points from their previous three games, Gateshead will be glad to see the back of the 2017/18 campaign.

With the curtains being drawn on a seemingly short season, the O’s faithful would like to sign out with a 16th and final victory this campaign. However arguably more importantly for the O’s, it’s hopefully not the last game for Ebou Adams in a Leyton Orient shirt.

Will the East Londoners prevail in the North East against Gateshead and rack up a total of 60 points? Or can the hosts leapfrog the O’s to clinch a 13th place finish?
