Saturday’s fixture will kick off the National League season and it’s set to be a heavyweight encounter as both teams are early favourites to take the league by storm. Before a ball has even been kicked, Salford are favourites to win promotion to the Football League, whereas Orient are third favourites to go up.

The visit of Leyton Orient will be the first ever game for The Ammies in the National League as well as the first ever competitive match between the two sides who were six divisions a apart at the start of 2014/15 season.

Following on from an eventful pre-season - consisting of three wins and two defeats - Salford who are co-owned by Manchester United’s “Class of ‘92” have aspirations of promotion into League Two after winning the National League North.

As for Leyton Orient, going undefeated in England during pre-season sets them in good stead for a season which could see them regain Football League status at the second attempt. Despite the O’s not finding a win in their two previous official pre-season fixtures, a 2-2 draw with League One Southend should boost confidence ahead of their trip to Manchester.

Team News

Salford may have many fresh faces on show on Saturday after infamously spending big during the off season. Notable additions include Adam Rooney and James Hooper.

Leyton Orient have a squad edging closer to full fitness. New signing, Dale Gorman, may make his first professional appearance for The O’s after featuring in a behind closed doors friendly at Greenwich Borough. In addition, Josh Koroma is likely to feature despite being rested last time out for precautionary reasons.
