A Fans Perspective: Orient's loss to Torquay

On Tuesday night, 23rd placed Torquay United left E10 with all three points after beating a poor Leyton Orient side 1-0 away at Brisbane Road in the re-arranged Vanarama National League fixture. The O's are now without a home win since a Boxing day victory over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Leyton Orient 0-1 Torquay United

Tuesday 15th March 2018, Vanarama National League, Brisbane Road, Attendance 2900 (155 Away)

A woeful showing from the O's, an incredibly dull and boring game that lacked spark, good football and chances on goal, there was no fight determination, character or fight either, some O's fans saying that it was one of the worst home performances they had seen in years, that's worrying considering some of the battering's we took at Brisbane Road last season. Caprice was just awful again as usual tonight, what does he actually bring to the team? He's a one footed fullback who struggles with committing to challenges and is a poor crosser. Sam Ling failed to impress tonight, he isn't the complete player as he is still young and learning, we spent the whole first half with Mooney and Bonne upfront pumping the ball up (Harrold's type of play) then when we brought Harold on we started to play on the floor (Mooney's way).

Even though I'm struggling to point out any positives, James Brophy shined once again, beating several players than letting off an overlapping pass to Ling who's cross was blocked, he is just getting better every single game he's exciting to watch every time he's in the final third, I wouldn't be surprised if he scores an absolute belter by the end of the season just, how he creates opportunities out of nothing. Mooney put in a decent performance, he was unlucky at the end with Orient's one only decent opportunity which was tipped onto the post by the Torquay goalkeeper, he started the game upfront with Bonne but after Harrold came on he switched to a number 10 role (Attacking Midfielder) . Ebou Adams had a good work rate but failed to really have an impact on the game, I really like Ebou I think he's a quality player who has a lot of potential.

I love Justin Edinburgh, he's was a nice guy when I met him at the Supporters Club night and you can tell he really wants to do well at Orient, but I think its an overstatement to say he's doing well, away from home were exceptional with three straight away wins back in February but home form needs to drastically improve. Fair play to Torquay they deserved to win, credit to the 155 away fans that made the long journey up for the game they were the only noise in E10 that night, their goal came on 37 minuets through Elliott Romain who headed past Dean Brill into the O's net.

In my opinion this seasons just been a disappointment, I know we are still adapting to life after new owners, a new team and a new league but none of us would've even thought of us dropping this low, bottom half of National League and getting turned over by teams like Dover, Gateshead, Ebbsfleet (no disrespect), I have no shame in loosing to Torquay they are a decent side with Football League experience but it's just how were playing, there's no buzz. We blew a cup semi final after conceding 3 goals in 15 minutes at home, best opportunity for this club to win a trophy, it's embarrassing and depressing. Hopefully we can just see out the rest of the season, finish as high as possible and just prepare for next season, but saying that if were going to keep playing like this and not shift out the poor mediocre players, this is just going to carry on into next season and then we'll be in serious trouble, people will turn on the coaches, players and maybe even the board.

Three home wins in three months is relegation form lets face it, we still are not safe if we fail to pick up results against Eastleigh, Guiseley and Woking and Solihull Moors and Barrow pick up were going to get dragged into this relegation battle with a matter of weeks left of the season, we can't let this happen.

In Conclusion

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed this article, we go again on Saturday away at Eastleigh in the league, comment your thoughts below or on our twitter page @LOFCEverything , the O's disappoint yet again hopefully we can bounce back from 5 games without a win and get a massive 3 points at the spitfires.

UP THE O's!
