Where Are They Now: Scott Cuthbert

In our new series at Everything Orient, we take a look at ex-Orient players and see where their careers have taken them since their departure from Brisbane Road.

Scott Cuthbert became a bit of a household name during his time with the O's, making over 130 appearances for the east London side in a four year stay with the Leyton based outfit.

However, the Scottish defender began his career at Celtic, where he signed for them at the age of 11 years old. Furthermore, Cuthbert went onto captain the u-19 side and the reserve team but never featured in the first team.

His stint with Celtic also included loan spells at other Scottish sides such as Livingston and St Mirren. However, Cuthbert decided to swap Scotland for England as he joined Swindon Town in 2009 for a fee of £100,000.

The Scottish defender enjoyed a three year stay with the Robins, making 80 appearances in the process. Despite this, he was released in 2011 following the expiry of his contract and joined Leyton Orient the following season.

Cuthbert featured prominently during his time with the O's, playing at either central or the right of defence. Notably, Scott was a key figure in the 2013/14 season where Leyton Orient challenged for promotion.

However, as we all know, the O's suffered a shock season which saw relegation in the following campaign. As Leyton Orient were relegated to League Two, the Scottish defender left E10 to join Luton Town, who also played in the division.

Cuthbert has played for the Hatters ever since. Since his arrival in the summer of 2015, the Scottish defender has made nearly 100 appearances for Luton and was appointed the official club captain in 2016.

Furthermore, with the defender being only 30-years-old, it looks like he has plenty more appearances to make for the Hatters.
