In our new series at Everything Orient, we take a look at ex-Orient players and see where their careers have taken them since their departure from Brisbane Road.
Eldin Jakupović was a commanding goalkeeper who quickly established himself as a fans favourite in east London during his two loan spells at Orient.
The Bosnian started his professional career with Grasshopper in Switzerland in 2004 before club hopping across the continent.
During his second spell at Grasshopper he scored his only career goal as well as making his first and only appearance for the Swiss National team as he has citizenship for both his country of birth and Switzerland.
In 2012, the ‘keeper made his way to England and joined Hull City in 2012. During his five years with the Tigers he had two loan spells at Orient both in the 2013/14 season. Unfortunately he had to be recalled by his parent club due to injuries suffered by Alan McGregor.
News of a second spell at Brisbane Road brought delight to Orient fans, with one supporter promising to clean every seat in the east stand when the Bosnian returned to E10 - and upon his arrival, he honoured that promise.
Since leaving the O’s for the second time during the 2013/14 season there is no doubt that the goalkeeper has gone in a completely different direction to the Orient.
Jakupović was a crucial asset to the Hull City playoff winning team of 2015/16 to promote the Yorkshire side to the top flight. He kept a clean sheet in the final at Wembley against Sheffield Wednesday.
Eldin is now applying his trade at former Premier League champions, Leicester City. Although he hasn’t featured in a league game this campaign he has started two FA cup ties in the Foxes cup run which saw them get to the quarter final.
